Amazon Launches Alexa+ in India With Generative AI and Multilingual Support
Amazon has launched Alexa+ in India under Early Access, adding generative AI, personalised interactions, multilingual conversations and expanded smart-home and shopping capabilities.
introducing a generative AI-powered version of its voice assistant with more natural conversations, personalised experiences and broader integration with smart-home devices, entertainment and shopping services. The service is currently available under Early Access at no additional cost for eligible devices and users.
Alexa+ supports English, Hindi and Hinglish, allowing users to switch between languages while maintaining conversational context. Amazon said the assistant is designed to understand everyday Indian expressions, relationship terms, measurements and communication styles.
The AI assistant can work with connected devices from brands including Atomberg, Qubo, Dreame and Wipro. Users can also access entertainment services including Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Prime Video and Netflix
Amazon said integrations with EazyDiner, Swiggy, District by Zomato, MakeMyTrip, Home Triangle and TripAdvisor are planned, expanding Alexa+'s potential uses across food delivery, restaurant reservations, travel, home services and event planning.
The assistant also includes shopping-focused features. Users can create shopping lists, track Amazon orders, receive price-drop alerts, compare products and access summaries of verified customer reviews through voice interactions. Amazon said grocery and everyday-essential ordering through Amazon Now will also be introduced.
Alexa+ uses voice and visual identification technologies to recognise individual household members and tailor responses based on preferences and routines. Amazon said the system can remember information such as dietary preferences, entertainment choices and schedules to provide personalised recommendations and reminders.
